Railway contractor VolkerRail helps in tracking down missing children

From now on, VolkerRail, specialist in railway construction and maintenance, helps searching for missing children. When an AMBER Alert is issued, the entire company has direct access to a picture and description of the AMBER Alert child. To be sure that the message reaches everyone in the company, also staff on the road or working on the railway, the Alert is automatically placed on the intranet and sent as an AMBER Alert SMS to all corporate phones.

"Our employees and the management instantly loved the idea, proposed by one of our employees through our suggestion box. It's a perfect opportunity for our 1,200 employees to actively participate in tracking down missing children. Because the majority of the staff work on or near railway tracks, often in secluded areas, we hope to really make a difference", according to Jan Vos, General Director of VolkerRail.

AMBER Alert, the largest alert system in the Netherlands, now has more than 1 million participants and a large number of companies that forward the message to their employees, such as the ANP, NS, the public broadcasting services and now VolkerRail. Frank Hoen, founder of the Dutch AMBER Alert: "It is important that both large and small organizations register for AMBER Alert. It takes little effort, but can have a significant impact, because it could just save a life. Each additional person that looks out for a missing child, increases the chance that the child is found quickly and unharmed."
